Alternative Investment GameDay: Recapping the FactRight Annual Due Diligence Conference 2026

Written by Bethany Sweet | Sep 15, 2026, 7:47:14 PM

The FactRight Annual Due Diligence Conference 2026 brought more than 600 attendees, including 225 wealth managers, to the JW Marriott Nashville for three days of due diligence, networking, and plenty of Nashville spirit.

The conference started in Nashville the day after the passing of country music legend Dolly Parton, adding a particularly poignant note to our time in Music City. Her presence could be felt throughout Nashville as the city celebrated her incredible legacy.

GameDay kicked off with a rousing pep talk and introduction to the FactRight Report Center and Testing Center from FactRight Co-CEO Russell Putnam, followed by Co-CEO Jake Heidkamp’s play-by-play analysis of the current market environment, including the now-famous Steak Index. Want to keep up with the markets throughout the year? Subscribe to the Weekly Update for Jake’s ongoing analysis and insights.

Russ and Jake also took a moment to celebrate Kemp H. Hanley and his upcoming retirement, recognizing his many contributions to FactRight and the industry and wishing him all the best in his next chapter.

After the opening ceremonies, we jumped right into the first round of sponsor sessions. Over the course of three days, we heard from 27 sponsors covering a wide range of alternative investment structures and strategies, including REITs, interval funds, private real estate, DSTs, QOZs, oil and gas, and more.

The Main Event: Due Diligence

At the heart of the conference were FactRight’s signature Closed-Door Sessions, where our analysts led candid, in-depth discussions on all of the alternative investment offerings presented on stage. These sessions gave wealth managers the opportunity to ask tough questions, dig into the details, and hear directly from the professionals conducting the due diligence.

Two engaging panel discussions on Thursday kept the conversation moving, tackling timely topics and giving wealth managers insights they can take back to their practices. Russell Putnam led Tax-Advantaged Investing: Trends and Opportunities, exploring key developments shaping tax-advantaged alternative investments, including the evolving QOZ 2.0 framework, Roth conversion strategies, bonus depreciation, and other planning opportunities for wealth managers and their clients.

Jake Heidkamp facilitated Beyond the Hype: Credit Markets in Focus: Opportunities and Risks in Today’s Credit Markets, a discussion examining the current landscape across structured finance, asset-backed lending, private credit, and other emerging credit sectors. Panelists explored liquidity, valuations, credit risks, and what wealth managers should be watching as the credit markets continue to evolve.

A Little Nashville GameDay Spirit

No GameDay is complete without a great tailgate.

Wednesday night brought the opening-day energy as we channeled a little bit of the Florida vs Georgia tradition and hosted “Due Diligence’s Largest Indoor Cocktail Party.” The evening featured a local beer tasting and live drumline, setting the stage for a night of fun and networking. A big thank you to InvestX for sponsoring the festivities!

Thursday night’s reception took us straight into Music City with a Tennessee whiskey tasting and live music from Nashville singer-songwriters Karli & James. Thank you to Pennant Park for sponsoring the cocktail reception. It was the perfect way to wind down after a full day of conversations, connections, and due diligence.

And, of course, our amenity sponsors helped add those extra touches that made the conference special. Skyway Capital kept us fueled with specialty espresso drinks, while Empire provided gift boxes and snacks. Griffin Capital treated us to great meals, and Lighthouse Life kept our networking breaks going. American Alternative Capital opened the door with custom key cards, and InCommercial kept us connected with Wi-Fi access.

A big thank you to all of our sponsors for helping make GameDay in Nashville one to remember!
